Religion and aggression...

It is becoming more apparent each day... We are in a war with Islamic fundamentalism. At least the Muslim extremists consider it a war and they are calling it their jihad or a holy war.

Of course what is happening is nothing different than what happened with other religious wars over the centuries. In the sake of religion, Christians did the same thing during the Christian Crusades and the Inquisition. All religion has been the cause of death and turmoil at one time or the other throughout history. The most aggressive religion, at the present time, just happens to be Islam. What I fail to undersstand is why there are so many people who find my position on religion incomprehnsible and despicable. They tend to equate religion and morality as being the same. In reality, the converse may be more applicable.

Present day Jews are concerned and justifiably so. They are despised even more by many Muslims than Christians are. The fact that we here in the US support Israel, and its occupation of Arab land in the middle east, makes us a prime target for Islamic fundamentalism and its tendency toward violence. There will be more terrorist attacks in the US. The sad part of it is that there were no terrorists in Iraq before we attacked them. Saddam considered Islamic fundamentalism a threat to himself and kept the religious fundamentalists under control. In fact, Saddam wouldn't even let them sell religious artifacts in the town squares. Saudi citizens attacked us on 9/11 and not one single Iraqi was involved on 9/11. We attacked Iraq because we wanted a base of operation in the middle east. We were kicked out of Saudi Arabia, Iraq had plenty of oil, and Saddam was a dictator (which gave the administration an excuse to invade). All of the justification to attack Iraq was based on either false statements and/or lies. The only sure outcome is a loss of lives and an increase in Islamic fundamentalism, anger and a subsequent growth in terrorism.

Islamic extremism and terrorism has only increased subsequent to our attack of Iraq and the occupation of the country. Our actions have brought many more religious extremists into the folds of the terrorist ranks.
